Student Innovation Fund

The HBKU Student Innovation Fund (SIF) provides students with funding and resources to transform their innovative ideas into commercially viable prototypes. It allows them to refine and enhance their entrepreneurial skills through practical application and experiential learning, equipping them with the expertise and mindset to potentially launch ventures that contribute to Qatar’s economic development.

The SIF offers two funding opportunities:

  •  → Single Student Innovation Proposal: Up to QAR 15,000 for projects led by a single student for a maximum of 8 months.
  • → Multidisciplinary Student Innovation Proposal: Up to QAR 30,000 for projects involving at least two students from different HBKU colleges, with a duration of up to 8 months.

Both funding streams focus on delivering proof of concept and demonstrable prototypes, ensuring clear milestones and practical applications for real-world impact.

Outcomes:

The SIF supports student-led solutions. In turn, projects must deliver proof of concept and demonstrable prototypes within the set timeline (8 months), prioritizing originality, feasibility, and industry alignment to advance Qatar's innovation ecosystem, with potential pathways for spin-outs when and where applicable.
