Dr. Fadel Tissir
Dr. Fadel Tissiris Professor at College of Health and Life Sciences at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. He graduated in Biology from the University Sidi Mohammed ben Abdellah, Fes, Morocco and earned a PhD degree from Free University of Brussels. Fadel Tissir was appointed at the University of Louvain, and the Belgian Funds for Scientific Research (FNRS) in 2005 and was promoted to the rank of Professor and Research Director FNRS in 2017.
His research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms implicated in development and diseases of the nervous system. He has been active in the field of developmental neuroscience for more than 20 years with emphasis on the role of planar cell polarity (PCP) and cytoskeletal proteins in health and diseases. He discovered the core component of PCP signaling, engineered constitutive and conditional mutant mice for PCP genes and uncovered their function in the developing and mature system.
